Limited Opportunity - The DoubleM-R Ranch is offering a limited number of all-inclusive, deluxe hunting packages for the coming season. This is a 4th generation owned and operated working ranch with over 20,000 acres of prime wildlife habitat located on the western edge of the Edwards Plateau Region, the highest whitetail deer population density area in the state. We are a small family-run operation and will do our best to accommodate you and your party like members of our family to assure you of a great time and a "successful" hunt, however you may define it. We are planning to harvest a limited number of mature Whitetail bucks this coming season, so contact us soon to secure your reservation for a fantastic hunting experience.
Intense Game Management Program - The ranch has been under an intense game management program since 2000 with high-protein feeding since 2002. The ranch has always produced substantial numbers of "good" bucks, but our intense management and supplemental feeding program has really begun paying dividends and is now yielding trophy-quality bucks in the 125-150 B&C Class, with a few monsters in the 160+ class. Over a 3 to 4 day period, you will likely see an ample number of "shooter" 8 point or better bucks to choose from.
Exotics - While hunting on the ranch, there is also a chance you may encounter exotic game, including Axis Deer, Fallow Deer and Blackbuck Antelope. However, due to our relatively small population of exotics, we do not conduct exotic-only hunts. we have never stocked or attempted to keep them in or out with high fencing.
How We Hunt - All of our hunts qualify as B&C "Fair Chase". Hunting is done primarily from corn and protein-fed elevated box blinds, but depending on the time of year and conditions, we may also rattle and/or still hunt. With blinds placed along the many draws, hilltops and mesquite flats on the ranch, you'll have the opportunity to hunt a variety of locations in order to maximize your hunting experience.
All Inclusive Hunting Packages - Our deer hunting package includes lodging, meals, non-alcoholic refreshments, field dressing of game, transportation to and from the Sonora Airport and plenty of fun, relaxation and laid-back West Texas hospitality. Experienced guides are also available, should you desire. Come join us for the hunt of a lifetime.
2009 Hunting Results - Despite a fairly severe lack of rainfall, we had an excellent hunting year in 2009. The overall body weights were down a little, but that was to be expected due to the severe drought conditions. Once again, a great deal of credit should be given to our supplemental protein feeding program and overall ranch management. We recorded a 100% success ratio for all of our whitetail deer hunters during the 2009 season, with all trophy bucks sporting racks of 8 points or better.
